EUNIC PERU Information and Culture Conferences in Cooperation
with the European Union Delegation

EUNIC Perú joins in the celebrations for the Europe Day, presenting a programme of activities from 25th  to 28th  May 2016, under the main theme of “Migration and Mobility.” The phenomenon of migration is headed in multiple directions. On the one hand, we have the challenge of globalisation, means of transport and new communications technologies that have intensified mobilisation around the world, beyond national boundaries. The European Union and the European countries open their doors through a wide variety of scholarships. On the other hand, we are living in a time of intense transformations in Europe due to the immigration brought by wars and terrorism in other parts of the world.

It is for this reason that EUNIC Perú seeks to foster dialogue on these matters between European countries and their Peruvian hosts by organising the following activities:

25th  May

7:30 p.m.: Documentary: "EU Migration Crisis: The Inside Story" (2016, 20 minutes)

With Spanish subtitles

Director: Isabelle Bruselmanns

Organised by: The European Union Delegation

Venue: Goethe-Institut (Jr. Nazca 722, Jesús María)

Free until capacity is filled.

On 19th  April 2016, exactly one year after the shipwreck of hundreds of migrants in the Mediterranean Sea—an event that marked the start of the “migration crisis”—we took a look at the past to see how the European Union implemented its comprehensive response. This is the “inside story” told by witnesses from the Council of the European Union and the European Commission. It is an attempt to explain the complex nature underlying one of the greatest crisis currently faced by the European Union.

8 p.m.: Film: “Hope” (2014, 86 minutes)

With Spanish subtitles

Director: Boris Lojkine

Venue: Goethe-Institut (Jr. Nazca 722, Jesús María)

Free until capacity is filled.

Deep in the Sahara Desert, during his attempt to reach Europe, Leonard, a young Cameroonian, rescues Hope, a Nigerian woman. In a fiercely hostile world where safety means sticking with those you trust, they seek to find their way together, and even to love one another.
